The web browser warns that the installer may be a malicious file and blocks the download. What can I do?

Your browser may give you a notice stating that the installer .exe that you try to download may damage your computer. Do not worry: our installer is not dangerous.

To continue with the download, you would only need to indicate the browser that you want to download it anyway (sometimes, it will be necessary to access the Downloads section of the browser and indicate that you want to continue the download).

I cannot run the installer on my system. What should I do?

It is possible that in some systems the installer cannot be run from the desktop. This is due to security restrictions of Windows operating system.

To solve this problem, just save the installer in a less restrictive folder, such as the Downloads folder, and try to run it from there.

How do I install Microsoft Framework?

To install the component, download .NET Framework 4.5 and run it from the Downloads folder. Follow the instructions of the installation wizard and, once the process is complete, restart your computer to later proceed with the correct installation of ERIC.

How do I install the required video codecs in Windows?

The video codecs in an operating system are required by the system applications in order to play several video formats without any problems.

We recommend using Shark007 Advanced Codecs. Follow the steps below to install them in your computer:

  • Download the installer from the link Shark007 Advanced Codecs
  • Start the installer and follow the instructions
  • If prompted to update to the latest version, click No to avoid the update
  • Close the last window of the installer by clicking on the Finish button
  • Close the windows that are still open with the Exit button

These codec will include, among others, the H.264 video codec necessary to improve our report-to-video exportation.

Can I use MED1C in Mac?

Yes, if you have a virtualization program such as Parallels or VMWare Fusion wwith a Windows virtual machine. You may also use Mac’s Boot Camp. In both cases, you must have a Windows license.

Do I need technical knowledge (computer/video) to use the tool?

No, MED1C is designed from the point of view of the user, paying particular attention to the working methodology, so that no technical knowledge is required. Both professional and amateur users may use their time in enriching and adding value, leaving the unrelated or complex processes directly to the tool.

Should I encode a video before I can analyse it?

No, MED1C can work directly with a variety of formats and in most cases there is no need for decoding the video source, so in order to begin the analysis of a video you may only indicate its path.

Even so, may it be necessary transcoding a video (i.e. so it is lighter), we recommend the conversion to H. 264 format (also called MP4). Compressing the video to a quality of 2Mbits provides a high quality, and compressing to 1Mbit, although it slightly reduces the quality, but remains at an acceptable level.

Transcoding is a process that requires time and device performance, so it is recommended to carry this process out in a different time as when MED1C is used for the analysis (for example, during the night).

Which video formats does MED1C support?

MED1C supports any video format that can be played in Windows: DVD’s, MPEG1, MPEG2, H264, AVI, DIVx, xVID, MKV, AVCHD, HDV, MOV, FLV, VC1. The only requirement is that these video codecs are installed on the device.

IT is important to take into account that some formats do not allow advanced video features, such as slow motion (1/2, 1/10, etc.) or high speed (x2, x3, …).

In order to work with professional video formats, the use of a professional MED1C version may be required.

Can I generate my own video reports?

Yes, MED1C has a feature that allows you to quickly and easily export the reports to video format. As simple as versatile, the system allows to customize the output video format in contents and in the type of coding used, optimizing and adapting the video to the device where it will be played.

Must I download the videos to use them in MED1C?

The need to download the videos will depend on whether you will use it in MED1C Desktop or ERIC Cloud.

In MED1C Desktop you will need to download the video and save it in your local system, as long as it is not a public video posted on the Internet with a format compatible with streaming such as MP4. In this case, the video will not need to be downloaded.

Do I need the video to analyse?

It is not necessary to have the video to analyse an intervention. You may analyse an intervention you are watching and after that, add and synchronise the video of the intervention with the analysis.

To do this, follow the instructions of the guide Event creation and analysis to create the event, choosing the option Analysis without Video instead of Analysis from Video and continue with the process as indicated in the guide. To proceed with the analysis, follow the instructions of the guide Analysis of the match.

To synchronize the video after that, select Modify Analysis in the analysis’ Control Panel. Add the video of the match as indicated in the guideEvent creation and analysis, find the beginning of the intervention and click on the button 1P –:–:– to synchronize the video with your analysis.

Why does an alert window appear when exporting my reports?

Sometimes, a window appears while we are exporting our reports to video. These messages we can read are not errors, but warnings and extra information that can be helpful sometimes. However, if we are not going to use this information, we can hide it easily.

MediaTools Warnings

To hide those messages (and even improve your exporting performance), open ERIC and head to Configuration – Media Utilities – MediaTools Settings and click on Video format.

This will show us a configuration window, in which we will edit the following values: Preset to SuperfastZero Latency activated and Log Level to None.

x264vfw_configuration

Click OK and, then, Accept.

Now the messages should not appear anymore, and MediaTools performance should be improved.
